Job description:
The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking a seasoned MS SQL Server DBA to assist in the transition from Oracle to a Microsoft SQL Server environment as part of a broader Service Oriented Architecture (SAO) initiative. The SQL Server DBA is responsible for maintaining production databases and for ensuring their security and integrity. The incumbent will support and optimize multiple SQL databases and maintain consistent data dictionaries and related database and application documentation. Excellent opportunity to apply a variety of database technologies.

The NPS program in Ft. Collins, CO. performs inventory and monitoring in national parks throughout the U.S. IT support for the program is obtained through an agreement with Colorado State University. Work will be on-site in Ft. Collins, population 130,000, which has received numerous national awards and recognitions as one of the best places to live.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required
*Experience in the administration of SQL Server 2005
*Knowledge of SQL
*Knowledge of SQL Server tuning tools and techniques
*Experience with data modeling tools
*Bachelor's degree in C.S. or related field and demonstrated experience

Preferred
*Familiarity with Oracle 9i or 10g database
*Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
*MS SQL Server DBA certification preferred but not required.
